š³ļøāš Ariel's June Reselling Recap š³ļøāš
Pride Month is over. Welcome to Wrath Month.
Welcome to Our Info Dump! This space is for sharing successes alongside project updates, side gig financial details, referral codes, website recs, and general life minutiae.
In June, I attended a few chill pride events, harvested some garlic, took engagement photos, and braved the rain and heat advisories to host two garage sales. Nina is on teacher summer and gets to sleep until noon every day. Iām not jealous š at š all. š
š Reselling Numbers
I havenāt done any estate sale hauls in a while, so Iām just keeping my online jewelry boutique stocked and listing items that have been languishing in my death pile. I sold a total of 66 items last month for a $975.12 profit.
My highest-profit sales were:
A limited-edition satin bomber jacket from Wildfang for $38.13
An older style Reformation dress for $56.85
I try to price my items to receive a minimum $10 profit after shipping and fees, but I often earn around $15 per item on average. Anything over $40 is exciting. Many resellers pick high-value items that cost more upfront but will eventually earn a higher payout. I find those items tend to sit longer, and I like to list items that sell quickly. For me, itās a numbers game. Second-hand clothing is a growing industry, and it feels nice to save something from a landfill and give someone a good deal.
š³ Churning FAILS
I didnāt earn anything from churning last month, but I have a few bonuses in the works. Instead of calculating my profits, here are the companies that never paid out their promised new account bonuses:
Money Lion: Never paid the $50 bonus and potentially sold my phone number to scammers. š
Plynk: Paid out a $10 new account bonus immediately, but never paid out the additional $75 promised after receiving a larger deposit. Terrible UI, also.
First Horizon Bank: Didnāt even approve my account. No idea why. I think it may be extremely Chex-sensitive.
Regions Bank: Didnāt approve my account.
Affinity Federal: Didnāt approve my account.
Chase: After confirming multiple times that I met the requirements for the $300 new checking account bonus, the bonus is over a month late. I keep receiving secure messages asking me to call an account representative for more information, but they never pick up the phone. So š¤·āāļø fail.
Chase Bank for Business: I applied for another Ink Cash card and never heard back. š¤·āāļø š¤·āāļø š¤·āāļø (but they did approve me for a different business card?? idk)
š” Garage Sales!
Nina and I organized two garage sales last month. Iām thinking of writing a longer post about garage sale strategies and the lessons we learned.
We both tracked our individual items and divided the profits accordingly at the end of each sale.
June 1st total: $197
June 22nd total: $122.50
Total profits: $319.50
Total profits from my items: $208.50
On June 1st, we started later in the morning and had to pack up early due to a storm. On June 22nd, we set up before the early bird rush and kept it open until 12 pm. I think the heat killed us on the second weekend.
Was it worth all the effort? Eh. We sold some things that would have been too much trouble to list individually online, and we did get rid of a lot of junk that had been sitting in our garage since moving in together. It was fun, but Iām not organizing another one until the temperature drops.
š° Total earnings for June: $1,183.62
Compare this to:
March: $1,778.62
April: $2,267.54
May: $2,358.27
Itās too hot to exist more than I absolutely need to.
